How to Reconstitute

  1. 1Gather the lyophilized Melanotan II vial, a vial of bacteriostatic water for injection, a sterile syringe (e.g., 1mL U-100 insulin syringe), and alcohol wipes.
  2. 2Carefully remove the protective cap from both the Melanotan II vial and the bacteriostatic water vial, then wipe the rubber stoppers with alcohol wipes.
  3. 3Using the sterile syringe, draw the desired amount of bacteriostatic water (e.g., 1mL for 10mg vial) from its vial.
  4. 4Slowly inject the bacteriostatic water into the Melanotan II vial, aiming the stream down the side of the glass to avoid direct contact with the lyophilized powder.
  5. 5Do not shake the vial. Gently swirl the vial to aid dissolution. If particles remain, allow it to sit in the refrigerator for 15-30 minutes and swirl again.
  6. 6Once fully dissolved, the solution should be clear and free of particulate matter. Store the reconstituted solution in the refrigerator.

Bacteriostatic water for injection (BWFI) is generally preferred for reconstitution due to its preservative properties, which extend the shelf life of the reconstituted peptide.

What to Expect

  • Weeks 1-2: Initial skin darkening may begin, often subtle. Nausea, flushing, and increased libido can be observed early on. Freckles or moles may darken faster.
  • Weeks 3-4: More noticeable tanning typically develops. Side effects like nausea may subside or become more manageable.
  • Weeks 5-8: Significant pigmentation becomes evident. Maintenance dosing may be considered to sustain the tan.
